About Me

Hello, my name is Fiona Weir , an illustrator and visual artist from Melbourne, based on the Mornington Peninsula . I love to explore the whimsy and quirky as well as more classical styles of fine art and illustration. I am greatly inspired by nature, childrens books , illustrators of long ago and my family provide me with endless encouragement. I  completed both the Diploma of Visual Art (illustration) 2017 and the Advanced diploma of Visual Arts 2018 after finishing a career in nursing. I have always been passionate about drawing and started at a young age. In 2019 I completed 2 courses held by art agent Lilla Rogers and continue to develop by completing various online course work in 2023.
I not only work with ink , gouache and graphite, but I have been exploring the use of digital drawing and painting processes ,aiming to deliver images on various canvases including wood panels, textiles and print. I hope to capture playful imagery, nostalgia and storytelling in my work .Whether it is observing the small details of nature or illustrating  whimsical scenes , I aim to create vignettes that enable the viewer to sense a joy  and sentiment with my work.
